11 Days Serengeti to Zanzibar Escape

Northern Circuit wildlife, then soft landings on Zanzibar: Tanzania’s most loved safari-and-beach hybrid.

View itinerary Talk to a planner

Overview

Serengeti to Zanzibar

This is Tanzania’s most loved safari-and-beach hybrid for a reason: you open among Tarangire baobabs and elephant country, spend deep nights on the Serengeti plains (roughly 1,200–1,800 m, cool dawns, hot dusty middays), descend into Ngorongoro’s highland crater world, then trade fleece layers for sea-level humidity on Zanzibar.

Safari lodges sit in mid-range comfort by default, with adventure or premium upgrades on request. Plains nights follow season, central camps for much of the year, northern river sectors when dry-season crossings dominate. Crater rim air is cooler again before the flight softens everything.

Three beach nights give real recovery after the bush. We place you on Nungwi, Kendwa, or a quieter east-coast strip depending on swimming preference and month. See also our :serengeti: and :zanzibar: guides, or compare the tighter :eight: when leave days are shorter.

Park fees, crater service, and the domestic flight are built into the from-price so the handoff from :safaris: country to island sand stays one continuous booking.

Read island climate and beach notes on our Zanzibar destination guide page, or compare wildlife-only circuits on safari packages if you want more plains nights before the flight to Zanzibar.

The hybrid we staff most, plains nights, crater morning, then a flight that actually lands you in swimming water.

All Zanzibar packages

Safari + island guide

From plains dust to tide tables

Safari-beach packages begin in northern wildlife country and finish on Zanzibar’s coast. The join is a domestic flight and a deliberate shift in pace.

Climate contrast

Expect cool safari dawns and warm dusty afternoons inland, then humid coastal air, strong sun, and evening sea breeze on the island. Pack layers for both chapters; laundry mid-trip keeps soft bags manageable.

Sea & seasons

Tide charts matter for snorkeling and sandbanks. East coast mornings often suit swimming; west and northwest beaches have different swell personalities. We match hotel areas to how you want to spend water days.

Accommodation arc

Safari lodges or camps first; beach hotels or boutique Stone Town stays after. Honeymoon quiet, family connecting rooms, or dive-focused properties are chosen on purpose, not as a generic “beach hotel” line item.

Stone Town & spice days

Most hybrids include time for historic lanes, spice farm visits, and at least one ocean activity. Free days are protected so the island does not become another checklist.

This is the Tanzania story guests request most, and we have polished the handoff until the beach evening feels earned, not abrupt.
