Most first circuits combine Tarangire elephants, Ngorongoro Crater, and enough Serengeti nights to feel the plains. Lake Manyara fits as a shorter birding and forest stop. Open each destination page below, then we stitch nights on a safari package.
Choose the Serengeti for space, migration, and dawn on kopjes. Choose Ngorongoro for a dense crater-floor day and a higher chance of rhino. Most guests should not choose; they should do both if leave days allow. The Ngorongoro crater safari guide explains the floor versus the rim.
The Tarangire River holds wildlife when the bush dries, so elephants concentrate among baobabs in the dry season. It is often the first or last park on a northern loop from Arusha. Read the Tarangire destination guide and consider a Tarangire day trip if you only have one wildlife day.
Yes for tree-climbing lions when they show, flamingo shallows, and a forest-to-lake contrast you do not get on the crater floor. It is compact, so it also works as a travel-day park. See Lake Manyara and nearby cultural add-ons on day trips.
The Kilimanjaro destination page covers the national park, climate, and how the mountain sits on the map. A climb package is the multi-day trek to Uhuru Peak with crews, gates, and altitude profiles. You can visit the area without summiting; you cannot summit without a proper route plan.
End safari at a highland or Serengeti airstrip, or drive to Arusha, then fly to the spice island. Beach last is the usual order. Start with the Zanzibar destination then pick a safari and Zanzibar package. The beach itinerary guide shows a clean handoff.
Tarangire and Manyara are the closest northern parks to Arusha. Ngorongoro is a highland drive; Serengeti is a long day or a flight. We design sleep stops so you are not paying for a park you only see through a dusty windscreen. Distances and travel times sit on each destination card.
A common flow is Tarangire, Manyara or Karatu highlands, Ngorongoro, then Serengeti, or the reverse if you fly out of the plains. Migration location can flip Serengeti to the front. Use the northern circuit itinerary guide then we lock camps on a private safari.
Tarangire, Manyara, and some cultural sites work as day journeys from Arusha. Serengeti does not; the transfer eats the wildlife. Ngorongoro as a long day is possible but tiring. Compare day trips with overnight safari packages before you spend a crater fee on a rushed floor visit.
Southern Serengeti calving can shine in early months. Tarangire is quieter when water is widespread. Zanzibar has short rains and still-swimmable days depending on wind. We will not pretend every park is equal in April. Say your month on Contact and we will rank these six places honestly.
Yes. Crater dawn wants a fleece; the plains want dust-tolerant layers; Zanzibar wants sun and tide-aware swimwear. Kilimanjaro summit kit is its own list. Use the Kilimanjaro packing guide if you climb, and keep safari bags soft for bush flights into the Serengeti.
Ngorongoro offers density; Serengeti offers space and light; Tarangire offers elephants and baobabs; Zanzibar offers water colour at golden hour. Private vehicles help you stay at a sighting. Mention photography when you plan the trip so we do not stack too many gates in one morning.
Swahili and English are widely used in lodges and with our guides. US dollars are common for tourism invoices; small shillings help in towns. Visa cards work in some hotels, not at every gate. We put payment notes in the quote from the Arusha desk.
Parks plus Kilimanjaro plus Zanzibar is a grand arc of two weeks or more, not a seven-day sampler. Trying to “see it all” produces airports and little sitting. Pick a spine: wildlife, mountain, or beach, then add one contrast. Grand safari combinations and climb packages already sequence the icons.
Destination pages teach the place: wildlife, season, getting there. Package pages sell a dated itinerary with lodges and a from-price. Read the place first if you are new to Tanzania, then jump to a matching safari, climb, or Zanzibar journey.
