Who we are

A desk in Arusha, not a brochure overseas

KiliRuta is a local team in northern Tanzania. We run Kilimanjaro climbs, private safaris through the northern parks, and quiet days on Zanzibar when the bush part of the trip is done.

You talk to the same people who book the lodges, brief the drivers, and check the weather before summit night. If a day needs to slow down, we slow it down. Clear pricing. Honest pacing. Someone on the ground who answers when plans shift.

The mountain teaches patience. The plains teach attention.

Most first-time guests need five to eight safari days to see Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and a real stretch of the Serengeti without rushing gates. A three- or four-day loop works after a climb or before a beach flight, but wildlife time feels compressed. Browse safari packages by length, then tell us your leave window on the trip planner.
Yes. The clean order is climb first while legs are fresh, safari second, then Zanzibar for humidity and rest. We book mountain crew, park nights, and island hotels as one continuous journey. See climb-plus-safari-plus-beach options under Kilimanjaro climbs and safari packages, or send dates through Contact.
Dry months from June to October suit classic game drives and Kilimanjaro visibility. January to March favours southern Serengeti calving and still-good trekking. April and May are greener, quieter, and often better value. Read best time to visit the Serengeti and the northern circuit safari guide before you lock flights.
Safaris and day trips are private Land Cruiser journeys unless you ask for a shared departure. Kilimanjaro can be a private climb or a small group with a dedicated crew. You are not pooled with strangers on our standard safari packages. Families, couples, and solo guests all travel on their own vehicle clock.
Mid-range private northern circuits typically start in the low thousands of US dollars per person, depending on nights, park fees, and lodge finish. Park fees and crater services are a large share of the number, not a hidden add-on. Our safari cost guide explains what drives the quote, and Contact returns a written outline for your dates.
Guests fly into Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam, transfer with a known driver, and sleep in lodges or camps we actually use. Parks are guided; towns are ordinary East African cities where you use normal street sense. We brief you on cash, SIM cards, and evening routines before arrival. Start with the About KiliRuta desk story if you want to know who answers when plans change.
Most travellers obtain an eVisa before flying or a visa on arrival, depending on passport. We are not the immigration authority; we tell you what our guests usually do and send the current government link with your quote. Yellow-fever certificates can be asked if you transit a listed country. Ask on Contact once your routing is known.
Kilimanjaro International (JRO) is the usual gateway for Arusha safaris and Moshi climbs. Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar suits island-first trips. We collect from the airport or your hotel and end at the same or at a domestic departure. Tell us inbound and outbound flights on the trip planner so transfers sit inside the itinerary, not as a surprise invoice.
Peak migration weeks and July–October Kilimanjaro dates reward booking three to six months ahead for the camps and crews you actually want. Shoulder months can move faster. If you have a fixed leave window, write early even if the route is still open. Use Plan your trip or WhatsApp the desk.
The outline names park fees, vehicle or mountain crew, meals as listed, and lodge or camp nights. If a balloon flight, visa, or international ticket is out, we say so in writing before deposit. Compare inclusions across safari packages and Kilimanjaro climbs, then reshape nights until the page matches how you travel.
Yes, with lodges and daily distances chosen for bedtime and heat, not a brochure pace. Crater and Tarangire days work well for first wildlife; long Serengeti transfers need honest talk. We can keep a day trip as a gentle start from Arusha. Share ages on the quote form so we do not sell a summit-night rhythm to a seven-year-old.
Speak to a travel clinic. Many guests take malaria prophylaxis for northern parks and discuss yellow fever if their routing requires a certificate. Kilimanjaro is high and cold; Zanzibar is humid and low. We are planners, not doctors. We will still flag seasonal mosquitoes when we place camps on your safari or Zanzibar nights.
A day trip leaves Arusha or Moshi in the morning and returns the same evening: waterfall, cultural visit, or a single park. A safari package sleeps in the bush, pays multi-day park fees, and gives dawn drives. Use day trips when time is tight; use overnight circuits when you want predators and migration country.
Send rough dates, group size, and whether you care more about wildlife, summit, or beach. We reply from Arusha within one business day with a clear outline. Open Plan your trip for a structured form, or Contact for a short message. You can also skim destinations first if you are still choosing parks.
The desk is in Arusha, northern Tanzania, with climb operations toward Moshi and island handoffs to Zanzibar. The people who write your itinerary can change a pickup when a flight shifts. Read About KiliRuta for how we work, then message the contact desk on East Africa Time.
